About Class

Boxing is a combat sport in which two fighters of similar weight and using padded gloves (to limit cuts and bruises) meet in a ring to exchange punches to the face and the chest.

The fight is divided into rounds, which are separated by a minute break. During this time, the fighters can take advice or be treated.

Regardless of whether they are doing Olympic or professional boxing, fighters try to avoid the punches of their opponents while trying to hit them back. Points are given to any punch considered powerful and precise. At the end of the fight, the fighter who has the highest amount of points is the winner.

A win can also be declared if a fighter knocks the opponent out of the fight (knockout or KO). It means the incapacity to stand up and keep fighting after the referee has counted to 10. The opponent also loses if declared injured (technical knockout TKO).

Boxing is also called the “noble art”. It is the ancestor of the open fight, which is much less technical than today. Indeed, the fighters had nails attached to their gloves.
